Apply for your NIE Number?

How to obtain your NIE number

In Spain: You can make an in-person appointment for a NIE on the official Spanish-language website by choosing the province you stay in and then filling in your information and paying a fee. You will then be given an appointment at your closest police station, but normally you will have to wait at least a month, so it is best to do this as soon as possible after you arrive in Spain.

Unfortunately, the regulations may be interpreted differently from area to area, so you need to make sure you find out beforehand the requirements of your local police station.

In the UK: You can also acquire a NIE number at the Spanish Consulate in a different country booking for an appointment, filling the relevant forms and paying the fees. However, the process will take longer, often two months or more and can be complicated if you are not familiar with what is needed..

We can help you to apply for your NIE number without the need for you to travel to Spain.

You will need to sign a Power of Attorney in order to apply for the NIE, a process which typically takes 5 - 10 working days. Fill in this quick form and one of our team will get back to you to provide you with a detailed quote.

Once you agreed our fees and made the payment, we can start drafting your power of attorney in Spanish and English.

After that, we will arrange an appointment for the signing of the power of attorney before a Notary Public which authorizes us to obtain the NIE number on your behalf. Finally, we will arrange for legalization with the Apostille at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

Upon receiving the legalised power of attorney, we will be in the position to apply for your NIE number. The Spanish authorities issue the NIE document in electronic format, so we can forward the document to you by email.
